“It’s twenty past seven. The war in Bosnia and the refugee crisis that’s followed in its wake is the latest tragedy to engulf the territories of former Yugoslavia. Politicians in Western Europe are beginning to realise that the current trauma would be as nothing if the war spread south into Kosovo, the once autonomous Albanian province in south Serbia. Tensions in Kosovo have reached breaking point as the Albanian majority resists Serbia’s campaign to re-assert its control over the region. Melanie Friend now reports from inside Kosovo and tells the story of one Albanian woman caught up in the region’s torment.”
